We are here to offer you advice from the experts on basic candle care and storage. Candles should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place while not in use.  Lay tapers flat while in storage to prevent warping.  Dust or fingerprints can be easily removed by gently rubbing the surface with a soft cloth (nylon stockings work well).  Wax drippings can be removed from candle holders by running hot water over them.  It is recommended that you do not use a knife or sharp object to remove these drippings as it may scratch the surface.

Fire Safety

To avoid potential flaring, trim the wick to 1/8” prior to use.  Candles should be burned in a well-ventilated room, and any candles that have no containers should be burned using a candle holder or plate.  Never leave a lit candle unattended.  Keep candles away from any potential fire hazards and only light on a heat resistant surface.
Candles should be kept away from animals and small children.

Care and Burning Tips

  1. candle first burnWhen burning, allow the top layer of your candle to heat up until the entire surface is a pool of liquid wax.  This will prevent memory rings.  (If the wax does not melt edge to edge in the jar before extinguishing during the first burn, the candle will continue to tunnel downward and will not utilize all of the wax).
  2. Use an Illuma-Lid or other jar candle topper while burning candles in glass jars for an even, clean burn
  3. Dispose of the candle when ½” of wax remains, 2” of wax when not containerized
  4. Place burning candles at least 3 inches apart
  5. Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, debris, and matches
  6. Do not leave your candle lit for more than 4 hours at a time, doing so can cause damage to the wick making it unstable
  7. To avoid flaring, use a wick trimmer to get the perfect trim
  8. Never touch or move a burning candle

Storage

When candles are not in a glass jar or container, they should be individually wrapped in soft cloths if stored together to avoid scratches, dents, or breakage.  All scented candles without containers should be put in a Ziploc bag to maintain the freshness of the scent.  Candles should be kept in a cool, dark, dry area to avoid melting and fading. Candles should never be frozen as this can cause them to crack when brought to room temperature or heated.
